Asian Apothecary
While looking through grandmother’s attic for some old photos, we came
across a worn out, sad little chest of drawers that hadn’t seen any use or
daylight in years. The drawers were filled with tattered jewelry and
trinkets from decades ago, all in faded colors that matched the worn out
appearance of the chest itself. Despite its exterior, it was still a
beautiful, strong piece that held lots of potential to be cleaned up and
put to use again.
We sanded off the old, chipped, forest green paint, and primed with a coat
of Benjamin Moore Fresh Start; Alkyd Enamel Underbody White. After
this dried, we coated it with a few layers of Regal Interior Bulls
Eye Red 2002-20 in a Pearl finish to rejuvenate it with a bright splash of life.
We finished it off by replacing the old, wooden knobs to complete its
bright and oriental, yet versatile look. It looks great as a display piece
in the living room, and also sits right at home on the bathroom or kitchen
counter. It now draws the eye wherever it rests, and deserves the title
“Junk to Gem!”
